Aging Faithfully Retreat

Friday

4:00 pm Arrival and Check In  – Carriage House Front Desk

6:00-7:00 pm Dinner  – Castle Dining Room  (all meals will be served in the Castle King James Dining Room)

7:15-8:45 pm Session 1: A Hidden Treasure: Discovering the riches of life’s wisdom as a lifelong learner with Bill Mowry- Big Horn Lower Meeting Room    God has given us wisdom and insight through life’s experiences but we often leave this treasure undiscovered. In this learning session, we will discover and discuss key principles of lifelong learning to unlock God’s treasure of wisdom in our lives.

 

Saturday

7:30-9:00 am Breakfast  – Castle Dining Room

9:00-10:30 am – Session 2 Experiencing Spiritual Transformation as We Age with Alice Fryling – Big Horn Lower  This will be an interactive time to consider how we can navigate the losses and the opportunities of the aging experience. What are the invitations that God is extending to us now that we are getting older? How is it that as our bodies age, God is renewing us from within? This session will be based on and go beyond Alice’s book Aging Faithfully: The Holy Invitation of Growing Older.

11:00 am-12:00 pm

Movement and meditation- Practices drawn from Pilates and Tai Chi while focused on the principles of God and scripture.  

Alternative practice- self directed time with the Welcoming Prayer provided in the binder

12:00-1:30 pm Lunch – Castle Dining Room

1:30-3:00 pm Session 3: Where Have You Come From and Where are you going?  Processing your story with God and practicing bringing your whole self before Him with Mary Wood  – Big Horn Lower

3:00-4:00 pm – The practice of Visio Divina

4:00-6:00 pm Free Time

6:00-7:00 pm Dinner  – Castle Dining Room

7:30-8:45 pm Session 4: Sharing This Treasure: Mentoring others from the riches of life’s wisdom with Bill Mowry – Big Horn Lower  God has used age and experience to give us wisdom and this wisdom is meant to be given away. We will explore principles of mentoring and how the Lord can use your life to enrich another.

Sunday

7:30-9:00 am Breakfast  – Castle Dining Room

9:00-10:15 am Session 5: What In The World is Going on With My Body.  The Biological Markers of Aging and my Active participation in the process with Mary Wood – Big Horn Lower

10:15 – 10:30 am Break – Guests must be checked out of rooms by 11:00 am.

10:30 am – 12:00 pm Practical Steps in aging well, Consecration of the mind, body and spirit.
