1:30-2:30 pm SESSION 5: Literary agent panel – The Business of Traditional Publishing with Q & A.  How does traditional publishing work today? What is the literary agent’s role? How does an author prepare for traditional publishing or hybrid publishing while producing their first book? What are the common myths? What are readers looking for?

3:00-5:10 pm SESSION 6: The Business of Marketing. Become a Book Marketing Rockstar, the top 3 things authors need to be doing to market their book, websites and more.

6:00 pm Dinner in Castle Dining Room

7:30 pm SESSION 7: The Business of Retail and Distribution. Discussion about retail, from Amazon to traditional brick and mortar shops. Include discussion about big-box.  Talk about Ingram and why bookstores buy from a distributor, talk about the BETA options we are launching.

8:30 am SESSION 8: The Business of the Book Business. Panel of four presenters on practical steps for authors to follow to build their book business. What are important things to consider when looking at contracts? Should you form an LLC? How do you protect yourself legally as author? What entity do you need to form for tax purposes? How do you handle sales and taxes? What is the latest thought on AI? What writing tools should authors consider? How should an author use technology? Efficiency hacks?

1:00 – 2:00 pm SESSION 9: The Business of Speaking. Why should an author also consider speaking? How do you break into this field? What are practical steps for first timers? How does a speaker’s bureau work?
