About the Retreat

We invite you to CLOSER: A Marriage Retreat for Christian Couples.

CLOSER is for couples who are primarily looking for a weekend of rest, while pursuing growth and true fellowship together as a couple.

This retreat will provide:

Guidelines on how to utilize Scripture and prayer to strengthen your marriage.
The Guidry’s personal stories of redemption and growth.
Practical tools easily applied to marriage.
Short sessions with plenty of free time for couples.
A beautiful setting perfect for closeness with our Creator and each other.

Retreat Leaders

John & Summer Guidry

Closer is led by John and Summer Guidry who have been married since 1995. Their family includes two grown children and a son-in-law. With backgrounds in the US Air Force, both John and Summer bring a wealth of experience as military veterans. While serving in different capacities at many churches along their military journeys, they heard God’s call to marriage ministry. As a result, they founded Armed For the Battle Ministries. Since 2006, they have facilitated marriage enrichment courses, mentored couples, and walked with engaged couples through premarital counseling.

John and Summer have been helping with marriage retreats at Glen Eyrie since 2022. John has been a Deacon and is currently a small group Bible study leader and a Lay Pastor in his local church. Summer has been a Women’s Ministry leader, retreat/conference speaker and Women’s Bible study leader since 2007.

They are passionate about sharing their story to encourage others to continue to fight the battles of life together in marriage and committed to helping married couples leave a lasting impact on their families, communities, and the world.

FAQ

What Should I Pack?
Weekend attire is casual and be prepared to do lots of walking. Our weather can be unpredictable, so pack layers. And don’t forget to bring your Bible!
Cancellation Policy
Glen Eyrie Programs require payment in full at the time of reservation. Reservations cancelled or rescheduled at least 14 days prior to the start date will be charged a 10% fee. Reservations cancelled or rescheduled within 14 days of the start date will be charged a 50% fee. Reservations cancelled within 3 days of the event date will be charged the full amount.
Room Information

Our property contains 95 guest rooms located in 7 buildings, including our historic Castle. None of our rooms have televisions, although free wi-fi is available throughout the property. Rooms contain coffee makers, but no microwaves or refrigerators. These are available for use in each building’s common area. To see pictures of our rooms, visit our website Gleneyrie.org/lodging.

Dietary Needs

Please notify us of any allergies or dietary needs in advance. Our Food & Beverage team can accommodate gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian diets with advance notice. We are not a gluten-free certified kitchen, and cross-contamination may occur.
