An Apologetics Event at Glen Eyrie

How do we make sense of all the confusion? Is God Sovereign? Does He have a purpose? Join us at Glen Eyrie with three biblical scholars for a timely dialogue on faith and meaning as our culture journeys through turbulent times.

THINK is an event intentionally created for those who want to be strengthened in their faith through an introduction to apologetics and intellectual reflection on many topics, which include:

  • An Overview of Apologetics
  • The Problem of Evil
  • Archaeology & the Reliability of the Scriptures
  • How Literature Helps us see our world and Understand Ourselves
  • An optional Rock Tour on Saturday afternoon: “Is there evidence for a Global Flood?”

The weekend will be filled with insightful discussion, Q & A’s, and conversation with our speakers around the dinner table.  You will walk away having sound reasons that are convincing and helpful as you explore the validity of Biblical truths.  Join us on the soul-stirring property of Glen Eyrie and ponder the truths of our faith.

Retreat Leaders

Dr. Darrell Dooyema

Darrell and his wife Annette, work with the International Student Ministry of The Navigators.   Together they direct a summer program in Norway, where college students from the U.S. and other countries come to explore difficult questions of faith, gain missions experience, and grow in their walk with Jesus (see: www.elvheim.no). Darrell is also an affiliate professor of Philosophy at Colorado Christian University and enjoys the chance to help students think about the ultimate questions of life. He has degrees from Wheaton College (BA), Denver Seminary (MA), and Talbot School of Theology (DMin) and is a contributing author to the book Reasons to Believe. While he loves to ski and surf, his greatest joy (and most exciting challenge) is his three children, Dylan, Jared, and Eva Alice.

Janna Henrichsen

Dr. Janna Henrichsen earned her PhD in literature from Claremont Graduate University in 2001 and taught for several years in Christian colleges.  She grew up in a family dedicated to the ministry, learning how to study and teach the Word of God.  In  2006, she began to teach Bible studies and conferences to women, combining it with academic teaching until 2010, when she was invited by the board of Leadership Foundation to be a permanent part of that ministry.  Since then, she has dedicated her life to hospitality, teaching the Word of God to women, and teaching literature to various groups.  Currently, she resides in Indianapolis.

Dace Starkweather

Dace is the GM of the Glen Eyrie Castle & Conference Center.  He has always had a heart for how hospitality can lead to impacting the lives of others and has managed different destination properties across the West.  Even though his initial under grad is from the University of Colorado, Boulder—Dace has become a life-long learner earning an MA in Organizational Leadership & Development, as well as an MA in Apologetics from BIOLA University in southern California.  While he enjoys teaching on a myriad of biblical/apologetic subjects, his great passion is to speak on the Old Testament and biblical archaeology.  When he’s not at Glen Eyrie, Dace enjoys camping, photography and being an outrageously fun uncle with his nieces and nephews.

We are making every effort to comply with state and county orders and recommendations regarding cleanliness and food service.

However, we have chosen at Glen Eyrie to no longer require any guests or staff to wear a facemask.  We recognize that guests will be resuming travel and group activities with a variety of diverse experiences with COVID-19 and differing comfort levels. These are unique times to navigate.  We encourage guests to take individual measures to help stop the spread of illness, including remaining at home and not participating in group activities if experiencing symptoms of illness, practicing social distancing, hand hygiene, and mask usage as an individual choice if needed.

Our property is over 700 acres and contains 8 miles of hiking trails. Depending on where you are staying, you should be prepared to do lots of walking. Our weather can be unpredictable, so pack layers. Attire for the retreat is casual, and don’t forget your Bible!
