Physicians' Discipleship Retreat

March 5-8, 2026

Save the Date for Next year!

About the Retreat

Plans are underway for the 2026 Physicians’ Discipleship Retreat, now into its fourth decade.

This Thursday late afternoon-Sunday morning gathering at Glen Eyrie March 5-8, 2026 with other singles and married physicians with spouses continues around the idea of “retreat”. It’s not a medical conference but rather a slow-paced time intentionally built around the Word of God, focusing on the idea of generational and biblical discipleship and strengthening relationships with God, family and others.

The Retreat’s setting is beautiful and abounding with evidence of God’s creative, imaginative power. Those of us who have attended over the years have discovered that by God’s grace and presence, this place and this time together have been encouraging, safe and fruitful.

Tired and in need of prolonged moments to pause, think and rest — either alone or with one’s spouse and the Lord? Desire to engage and pray through some deep-serious decisions — even “talk-it-out” with other docs and/or spouse of a physician? Want some re-tooling and encouragement toward investing in others and applying the gospel and Matthew 28:18-20 in today’s world? This Retreat may well provide the space and means to address these questions.

The three evenings are spent together worshiping the Lord in song and teaching from God’s Word. Friday and Saturday mornings include smaller practical workshops and small groups. Friday afternoon is free (yes, free —when was the last time you had a scheduled afternoon with nothing to do? It’s quite a blessing once embraced and experienced!). Then Saturday afternoon is set aside for some hours to spend alone with God; previous attendees have declared this time to be their highpoint for the weekend.

Come join others in the common pursuit of deepening our love of Jesus and following Him.

Workshop Descriptions

 Evening sessions with Craig Parker:

Christ in you, the Hope of Glory  (Colossians 1:27)

Writing to the Colossians from prison, Paul the apostle builds his brief epistle around some foundational themes. During our time together we will explore three of them:

Session 1. Creation   Christ the Creator
Session 2  Incarnation    Christ in us
Session 3  Resurrection    Risen with Christ

We will explore each of these themes through the lens of a simple question: If these were woven into our lives, how would we think, speak and act as a result
Workshop titles and descriptions:

Steve Shank, leader The Navigator’s Central Division of the US Collegiate Ministry.
“Invitation – A guide to your time alone with the Creator of the Universe”, focusing on spending a half day alone with God.

Dave Netherton, MD
“The Gospel and the Kingdom of Heaven”. Matthew 9 says that Jesus came proclaiming the “good news of the kingdom.” What was that “Good News” which we call the gospel? Could it be more than “Christ died for my sins?” And how do we explain it to others?

Gary and Beth Jewell, MD’s
“Receive the Father’s Love”.  A firm foundation in God‘s goodness and his personal love for you is essential to have before the hard things in life happen. This workshop will get you started on hearing from God how much He loves you personally. Through scripture that has impacted you through the years and maybe new verses, you will write what Renovare calls “A Beloved Charter“.

Bill Geiger, MD
“Docs Discipling Docs?  How can I possibly do that?” This workshop will unpack the opportunity of all of us being a part of fulfilling the Great commission – to be laborers in God’s harvest through sacrifice, through Life-on-Life relationship and being Scripture-focused.

"It really was a retreat and not a conference. There was time to be still, time to think and process. I appreciated the leisurely pace and met some great people."
