About the Retreat

Are you spiritually weary from pouring into others through writing or speaking? Is it difficult to hear God’s still small voice over the constant to-do list? Does the pressure to build your platform and increase numbers make you forget why you started creating and serving in the first place?

If so, we invite you to join us as we allow our hearts to be renewed by the Good Shepherd.

At Daughters First, we invite writers, speakers, podcasters, ministry leaders, and creatives to step away and invest in their personal relationship with Christ first. In order to serve others authentically, may we each embrace the most important role and title we will ever have—Daughter of the King!

This retreat welcomes exhausted and overwhelmed Christian women to refill our spiritual wells. After three days of worship, fellowship, and spiritual nourishment, we will return home equipped to share faith-filled messages from a place of vibrant rest.

We’re excited to announce Jennifer Dukes Lee as our keynote speaker.  All attendees will receive a free copy of her book, Stuff I’d Only Tell God:  A Guided Journal of Courageous Honesty, Obsessive Truth-Telling, and Beautifully Ruthless Self-Discovery.  Read her full bio below.

How is the Daughters First Retreat Different From a Conference or a Writing Retreat?

We go to conferences to learn how to do our craft better and to meet other communicators. Daughters First is less about the what of your craft and more about tending to your own soul. You’ll still be meeting other communicators, but not in a way that feels like networking. Rather, you’ll be developing relationships that will help you tend your soul as you pour out for others.

A writing retreat has time set aside for writing. While you’re welcome to do some work while at our retreat, we hope you’ll set it aside for most of your time here and simply enjoy being with Jesus and with other women who love Him.

We can accommodate gluten free, dairy free, vegan and vegetarian diets with advance notice.

Payment is required at the time of reservation using a major credit card. Tickets are non-refundable, but may be transferred.

Please notify us in advance of any special needs you have. We do have an elevator and handicap access to the Great Hall where the meetings will be held.

Please bring comfy, casual clothing and comfortable shoes. Our property is over 700 acres and you may expect to do lots of walking. We have 8 miles of private hiking trails available only to guests. Our Colorado weather is unpredictable, so pack layers and prepare for temperature fluctuations. And don’t forget to bring your Bible!

Do not bring business cards, a book proposal, a one sheet, or your headshot. Leave your business casual attire and elevator pitch at home. Even our name tags will be first name only, so discard your 150-word bio at the gate and come as just you, fellow Daughter of the King. Instead of asking new friends, “What do you do?” come ready to ask, “What is God teaching you?”

Glen Eyrie is 25 minutes from the Colorado Springs airport (COS) and 90 minutes from Denver (DEN).

If you’d like to come earlier or stay after your retreat dates, lodging is available at a Programs discounted rate. Please call Glen Eyrie’s reservations line at 719-265-7050 for details.
