About the Retreat
Are you spiritually weary from pouring into others through writing or speaking? Is it difficult to hear God’s still small voice over the constant to-do list? Does the pressure to build your platform and increase numbers make you forget why you started creating and serving in the first place?
If so, we invite you to join us as we allow our hearts to be renewed by our Redeemer.
At Daughters First, we invite writers, speakers, podcasters, ministry leaders, and creatives to step away and invest in their personal relationship with Christ first. In order to serve others authentically, may we each embrace the most important role and title we will ever have—Daughter of the King!
This retreat welcomes exhausted and overwhelmed Christian women to refill our spiritual wells. After three days of worship, fellowship, and spiritual nourishment, we will return home equipped to share faith-filled messages from a place of vibrant rest.
This year’s theme is Unburdened Daughters. Matthew 11:28-30 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

How is the Daughters First Retreat Different From a Conference?
Conferences are an opportunity to gain new skills, network, and get inspiration for the work we do. Daughters First is less about what you do and more about tending to your own soul so that you can serve others from a place of rest. You’ll still build lifelong relationships, but in a way that isn’t focused on networking.
This is a place to set aside the demands of tending to others and allow like-minded Daughters of God grow closer to Christ together.

Retreat Speaker
Laurie Davies
A former journalist-turned-ministry leader, Laurie Davies has been writing since her advanced composition teacher told her in 1989 that she broke too many rules. Laurie worked as a journalist and marketing professional for 25 years before making the next, “obvious” career move—a leap into vocational ministry as a women’s ministry director.
Now an author, speaker, and lay counselor, Laurie has a passion for helping women become unburdened. Her book, Emotional Hoarding: Letting Go of the Stuff That Keeps You Stuck, released with Moody Publishers in March 2026. Laurie’s writing has also been featured in the Proverbs 31 Ministries’ First 5 app as well as with Lifeway and Guideposts. She is working on a Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies at Denver Seminary.
Laurie drinks hot coffee on 115-degree days, has no idea what all the remotes in her family room do, and lives in the Phoenix area with her husband of 30 years, Greg, and two schnockerpoo pups who run the show. Their adult son lives nearby.
